He arranged for us to bypass a long tourist line at one of the most popular places in the city — and that blew us away. After the tour was over — he even texted recommendations based on what we planned to do for the rest of our trip. One of the best tour guides we’ve ever had in Europe.

He sent us off with a local absolutely delicious sandwich shop within walking distance and helped us plan an itinerary for our walk back to the port!! It truly was a great day from start to finish! The four hours, which we were initially hesitant about, flew by. We just had a perfect day and would highly recommend you book this tour!!!! You won’t regret it!

What really stood out was how personable Mario was. He took the time to answer all our questions, made great recommendations for food and other spots to check out, and had a genuine passion for the city that was infectious. The tuk tuk itself was a great way to zip through Lisbon’s steep, narrow streets and take in the views without the exhaustion of walking everywhere (especially in the heat!).

Honestly, with the amount of history and fascinating information he shared, I started wondering if he might have been a history professor—or perhaps one of the great navigators responsible for creating maps in a previous life!

Tiago arrived early at our hotel for pickup and was so flexible with our plans. Our tour was from 9am–1pm, and I asked if we could end at Time Out Market so we could have lunch there, while also dropping my husband back at the hotel for work. Tiago happily tailored the tour around our requests and made the entire experience seamless.

One of the absolute highlights was the incredible behind-the-scenes experience at Pastéis de Belém. We got to see how the famous pastéis are actually made, which was such a special experience. Afterwards, Tiago helped us order some to taste, even finding us a table in the incredibly busy bakery! He showed us how to properly enjoy them, and they were a delicious highlight of the tour.

We also saw so many beautiful and interesting areas of Lisbon, and Tiago gave us plenty of time at several stops to explore, take pictures, and enjoy each location without feeling rushed. He recommended additional places to visit during our stay and gave us a list of restaurant and sightseeing recommendations for the rest of our trip. Every recommendation was fantastic!

Our whole family agreed that a tuk-tuk tour with Tiago was the perfect way to spend our first full day in Lisbon. It gave us a wonderful overview of the city, introduced us to some unforgettable experiences, and helped us discover places we may not have found on our own.

The tour takes you at street level (as if you were walking but faster and less strenuous!!!) with a glass roof, so that you can literally experience all details of the city right next to you with no obstruction.

Gabriel drove us to all the major sites and gave us historical information, his knowledge was extensive. As I said the tour can be customized along the way to suit you which is fabulous – highly recommend this private tour.

And the vehicle was really luxurious – our tuk tuk limousine we called it! It had very comfy BMW bucket style seats which were Super Comfy over the rough bumpy cobbled streets.

At the Belem Tower he gave me a private behind-the-scenes tour of the factory that makes the famous Belem pastry.

All in all it was a fabulous tour, a comfy stylish vehicle, and The Best Tour Guide ever.

Gabriel was friendly, thoughtful and incredibly accommodating. I ask a lot of questions, and he happily answered every one of them! He gave us a wonderful feel for Lisbon—its history, how the city has changed, and what Lisbon is like today. It felt more like spending the afternoon with a knowledgeable local than taking a formal tour.

One thing that really stood out was how genuinely friendly Gabriel was, not just with us, but with everyone we encountered along the way. He has such a sweet personality and never made us feel rushed.

Before we started, we asked if he could focus on the history of Lisbon, and he exceeded every expectation. Miguel is exceptionally knowledgeable, but what really sets him apart is his ability to bring history to life in a way that is engaging and memorable. Even our 8- and 11-year-old children were captivated the entire tour, which is no small feat!

One thing that really stood out was how well-known and respected Miguel is throughout the city. Everywhere we went, people greeted him with a smile. It speaks volumes about his character, his charisma, and the genuine relationships he’s built over the years.

Miguel, we feel so lucky to have had you as our guide and to have met you. You didn’t just show us Lisbon—you helped us understand it, appreciate it, and fall in love with it. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would recommend Miguel without hesitation to anyone visiting Lisbon. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

We feel like we saw all of Lisbon in 4 hours (he actually stayed wth us probably closer to 5!). The tuk tuk is comfortable and easy to hear Miguel at all times. The pickup and drop off at the hotel is a wonderful addition. When we expressed interest in something personal- he immediately knew where to take us and went out of his way to show us landmarks that would be of interest to our family. I cannot recommend this tour and Miguel enough- it was a highlight of our trip!

Johnny was an amazing guide and made sure we were comfortable, had plenty of opportunities to take photos, and got to see parts of Lisbon that we would have never discovered on our own. He was also so personable and fun to spend time with — it truly felt like we were exploring the city with a friend rather than just taking a tour.

The tuk tuk was the perfect way to see Lisbon, especially with all of the hills and beautiful neighborhoods. Johnny made the entire experience easy, enjoyable, and unforgettable. He even recommended a GREAT local bifana shop.

We saw beautiful viewpoints and places we never would have found on our own. If you’re visiting Lisbon, I highly recommend taking a tour with Henrique—you won’t be disappointed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

1) Communication. I want to start with communication and coordination. He was super responsive, flexible and clear with his communication via WhatsApp. He provided clear meeting point instructions (our hotel) and even arrived early.

2) the Tuk Tuk. There were four in our party, and we were quite comfortable in the Trony’s tuk tuk. It was covered in case of rain or bright sunlight, but at the same time, easy to get into and out of. One in our group has mobility issues and was able to navigate the entry/exit with only minor difficulty.

3) the Tour. Trony was born and raised in Lisbon. He knows not only the history of the city, but also of the Portuguese people and nation. He was super clear both in his dialogue and his explanations of what we were seeing, as well as the relevance of each local sight. He was able to also layer that knowledge with that of a local, pointing out great places to eat, drink and shop along the way, in addition to the best times of day to go to (or to avoid) a given attraction. Furthermore, given his long time in Lisbon and experience giving tours, it was obvious that even some of the other locals at some of the spots we stopped knew or at least recognized him.

4) his overall approach. Trony was super helpful. He was kind, clear and easy to understand. He was easy going, and his calm demeanor certainly was felt across our group and made us feel at ease too.

If you are at all on the fence about buying this tour, you should have confidence that it was worth the money.

What really stood out was how conscious he was of our time, making sure we saw as much as possible without ever feeling rushed. He also prioritized our safety throughout the tour, navigating the city’s busy streets and steep hills with confidence.

On top of that, Troni gave us fantastic recommendations for authentic restaurants and local dishes that ended up being some of the highlights of our trip. If you’re looking for a personalized, informative, and enjoyable way to experience Lisbon, a tour with Troni is an absolute must.

What we really appreciated was how he tailored the tour to our interests rather than just following a standard route. We covered so many different areas of Lisbon and it felt like the perfect highlights package, especially for our first proper look at the city. By the end of the tour, we had a much better feel for Lisbon and knew exactly which areas we wanted to go back and explore properly.

Joao shared lots of interesting information along the way without overwhelming us, and was happy to answer all our questions. We saw far more than we ever could have managed on foot, particularly with Lisbon’s hills!

There are a LOT of tuk tuks around Lisbon and, from what we saw, not all tours or guides are equal. I’d definitely recommend booking with I Took a Tuk Tuk rather than just jumping into one on the street.

Honestly, my wife was hesitant going in. We’ve been on plenty of tours that dragged on and became a bit insufferable after two or three hours, so a four hour tour felt like a lot. Mario completely changed her mind. By the three and a half hour mark, she couldn’t believe how much time had passed and was genuinely sad it was almost over- that’s how good he is.

Mario is fun, entertaining, and incredibly easy to talk to. He struck that rare balance of being knowledgeable without ever feeling scripted, and he genuinely seemed to care about tailoring the experience to what we actually wanted to see. Instead of running through a checklist, he adapted the route and pace to us, which made the whole day feel personal rather than routine.

He even took me to Pasteis de Belém, to try the famous Portuguese egg custard tart. He took me back in to the kitchen to see how the tarts were made. Another special stop we made was to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s sports bar in Lisbon. He took me in the shop where I could buy a gold soccer ball that had authentication papers because he knew I was a soccer fan. It was hundreds of dollars cheaper than what was on the open market if I could only do one thing in Lisbon, I would for sure take this tour with Frederico on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it 100!

Rueben was an exquisite guide. Relaxed, incredibly knowledgeable, warm and completely engaging, he seemed to figure each of us out almost immediately and naturally tailored the tour around the things that would interest us most.

Our son is a cook, so Rueben wove in Lisbon’s spice market history, showed him where to shop for ingredients and pointed out fantastic places to eat. At the same time, he gave all three of us a wonderful understanding of Lisbon’s history, neighborhoods and culture, taking us to places we never would have discovered on our own.
